Sustainable food value chain management: beyond standardized frames of sustainability – online

21.10.2021 @ 14:00 - 18:00

This seminar is targeted at both academic and non-academic audiences to generate novel perspectives on the future of sustainable food value chain management.
“We observe sustainable supply chain management to be usually approached with standardized frames of responsible and ethical sourcing, or due diligence practices for risk mitigation. In this seminar, we want to think beyond current standardized approaches.”

There is widespread acknowledgement among practitioners, NGOs, scholars, and regulators that sustainable supply chain management is indispensable for business success and legitimacy, as well as that securing the availability of quality foods and fresh water supply will be key challenges of the future. Amidst such challenges with inherent environmental and socio-economic complexities, we observe sustainable supply chain management to be usually approached with standardized frames of responsible and ethical sourcing, or due diligence practices for risk mitigation.

Online seminar / public / free of charge

October 21st, 13:00-17:00h CEST, via ZOOM

In this seminar, we want to think beyond current standardized approaches and ask: what novel perspectives and governance mechanisms – as part of industry self-regulation and regulation – will be required for the management of sustainable food value chains in the future, and what knowledge and solutions will be required to facilitate further transitioning of the food sector? Representatives from business, academia, civil society and government will provide insights on challenges and potential solutions, and allow for sufficient discussion time to jointly reflect on presented ideas.
